Japanese Appetizers, "OTSUMAMI"

"Otsumami" refers to Japanese appetizers or snacks that complement alcoholic drinks.

Here's some Otsumami ideas that go well with Japanese SAKE.  Popular appetizers that are consumed with SAKE are salty, such as Shiokara (salted and fermented fish).

Tofu preserved in miso. It tastes like a cheese and really creamy, thick and savory. It is great with sake!

Also, it is said that SAKE goes well with fermented foods, such as cheeze, miso paste and

Tsujii's oyster bento

“Tsujii” is a famous “Tsukudani” shop in Kyoto. “Tsukudani” is a Japanese traditional condiment, which is preserved food that small fish or seafood are cooked with soy sauce, sugar and mirin.  The Oysters are delicious and good for autumn. Good with Sake!

  

How to cook:

1.    The sauce, water, mirin and soy sauce are combined in a frying pan and bring to a boil.

2.    Then put oysters and simmer on medium heat until the soup has seeped into the fish,

3.    The ginger will remove the smell.

Pepper cheese with WASABI soy sauce, or Avocado slice mixed with WASABI & soy sauce must be good!
