SUKIYAKI "IMAHAN"

SUKIYAKI at "Imahan"

Autumn is known for its delicious food in Japan.  There are several sayings about autumn, such as "Minori no aki" (Autumn is the harvest season) and "shokuyoku on aki" (Autumn is the season for good appetites).

"Imahan" is a famous Sukiyaki restaurnat, but there several Imahans in Tokyo, i.e. "Imahan Bekkan" "Asakusa Imahan" "Ningyocho Imahan" and "Yoyogi Imahan". They are equally specialized in beef, but managed independenlty.

One fine day in October, I had a lunch course with seven ladies at Imahan in Kioicho, Tokyo.  It was a Sukiyaki Gozen Luncch (¥3,920), full of autumn food varieties and ingredients.  We could enjoy Japanese cuisine at its tastiest.

Appetizer - Pumpkin and boiled chestnut

Egg custard

Sliced raw fish assortment - shrimp, tuna and salmon

Sukiyaki is a Japanese dish.  "SUKIYAKI" song was named after this traditional Japanese cuisine.  A thinly sliced beef, tofu, vegetables and Shitaraki are cooked in a pan and flavored with soy sauce, sugar, mirn and Sake.  Dip a slice of beef in a raw egg if you like.

Dessert -  almond & milk in jelly, Azuki (sweat bean) ice cream
