TOYOUKE Organic Restaurant

TOYOUKE Organic Restaurant

I had to go to a jazz session in the afternoon in Yoga in the Setagaya area.   I was looking for a Japanese restaurant there and I found this organic restaurant online.

The TOYOUKE Organic Restaurant offers Japanese rice and vegetables from their farm.  They grow their products without using any agricultural chemicals or chemical fertilizers.

They support education in and increased access to homeopathy.

Their menu combines seafood from Shizuoka Prefecture and vegetables from the Toyouke farm.  Suruga Bay in Shizuoka Prefecture is a very deep bay and blessed with wide variety of seafood.

The restaurant features open-style kitchen, in a large wooden counter in the middle of the room with  Kamado (a traditional Japanese rice cooker) set in the center.  I sat at the counter, so I could see the Kamado in front of me.

It is a comfortable space, with wood timbers set in plaster walls.

The lunch menu is made up of traditional Japanese home cooking. Healthy and delitious.

TOYOUKE Special Gozen (JPY1,500)

-      Grilled fish (Sanma - pike)

-      Vegetables (carrots, Shiitake mushrooms, potates, bamboo shoots) boiled in Japanese broth.

-      Miso soup

-      Green salad

-   Nozawana (a kind of Japanese pickles)

-   Dried baby sardine

-   Rice with cod roe

The TOYOUKE Organics Shop is adjacent to the restaurant, where you can buy several kinds of Japanese foods and cosmetics.
